Update on system escalation status: 11 January
We have seen some signs of improvement in the local health and social care system across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire and have reduced the formal operational pressures escalation level (OPEL) to level 3.
The local health and social care system remains under significant pressure however and partners are continuing to work together to manage demand and restore capacity.
Residents are encouraged to help by choosing the most appropriate services for their needs and using A&E for serious and life-threatening emergencies only.
If you have loved ones in hospital, you can also help by collecting them as soon as they are ready to be discharged. This will help them recuperate in their homes sooner and ease some of the pressure on local hospitals.
